The Importance of CPR & AED Certifications

Over 356,00 people annually, just in the United States, go into unexpected Cardiac Arrest out-of-hospital; 60% to 80% die before professional help arrives. Their chances of survival are slim. Every second counts. If CPR is performed fast enough, the rate of survival can double and maybe even triple depending on the circumstances. Nonetheless, almost 90% of these cases end up fatal and only around 46% of victims get CPR from bystanders.

What are CPR/AED Certifications?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and an automated external defibrillator (AED) are both lifesaving tools. CPR is a technique that is performed by following a pattern of thirty chest compressions for every two breaths until either a pulse returns or EMTS arrive. AEDSs assist with CPR through voice-guided instructions, heart rate monitoring, and shock delivery when needed. First aid courses train, prepare, and equip those who want to learn with the experience and information needed to utilize both of these resources in real-world scenarios. Certifications are given to those who have successfully complete such courses and have been deemed ready and able to safely, timely, and efficiently respond to emergency situations.

Where to get certified?

Several local organizations such as the American Red Cross and other community incentives offer certification opportunities. There are also online alternatives. Explore different options and choose whichever works best with you; just make sure to check the validity of each course before you sign up.
